I've been working on the next update the past two weekends, and with all the free time I have.  It is getting very close to being ready for release... finally Smiley

Here is a little taste of the latest addition which I'd say is appx 90% complete... the official GTactix Pack Builder

A few notes about the builder.
Custom packs can be password protected so others can't mess around with your work.
includes support for single-level map folders to group your maps into, as well as drag-&-drop support for easier organization of your maps.

One of the big features with this tool and the new map pack format is that it gives users the ability to publish and host their own custom map updates - and they don't have to be hosted in the official map vault.  This will allow clans and teams to host their map packs on their own web server if they want to keep the packs private, and when an update is made to a map pack users can simply update the pack directly from within gtactix.  No manual downloading or copying or editing files.

I will write up detailed instructions on how exactly to do this when the update is closer to release.
The time is coming soon my friends, stay tuned!!  Cool

We have just recently found this wonderful tool. So far everyone raves about how suited to our purposes GTactix is. I play in a FPS tourny for Joint Operations that has several members divided into 2 Armies that battle for 11 hours on Sundays on a 250 man server. Our armies are divided into separate units, Infantry,  Tanks,  Airborne Infantry, Attack copper units, Spec Ops, ect, run with a chain of command and a command element to run the armies. My questions are as follows:

1) Is there way that we can import our icons for use use in GTactics or can you do this for us.

2) We change the custom maps we use weekly (typically these are maps built specificly for our tournament by our in house map team.) Is there a tool we can use to make an installer for our map pics to put out for use in GTactix. We have 100-150 per army to distribute to, so, it is not always condusive to do this one by one. Ideally we would like to have a map installer available for download to our members.

3) Is it possible to password the servers now or in future updates.

Thanks again for GTactics we all really love it and look forward to updates!

1) Answer: GTactix Pack Builder will give you the ability to create your won packages of maps and icons.

2) Answer: It is planed to make a system where clans/tournaments... can haver own kind of Vault.

3) Answer: Password on map packs, server sessions... are also feature that are planed for future releases.

Hope it answer all you questions.

I have to say, its simply a FANTASTIC tool! A treat for gamers! Keep up the good work, and eagerly waiting for the v2.0 Smiley

On a side note, i believe you are planning a set or tutorials.. I would like to suggest that if possible there should be a tutorial on a sample strategy development using gtaxtix, so that n00bs of the game that are new to tournament level gaming or want to learn the ways of clans OR want to start their own clans can get a few pointers. Because team management is an art, and using tools like Gtactix sometimes need a little help from the pros to use it to the full potential Smiley Just my two cents...

Yes thank you and good ideas c0d3r!

I may need to rely a bit on the community's help for tutorials on managing a team and developing winning strategies.  I'm a programmer and a solid cod4 player, but not a team leader.  I am more the mechanic than the driver Wink

However I can definitely make some tutorials on how to use gtactix to the fullest, and highlight the features available to help make those winning strategies.

Hello again all. Thanks to the admins/develpers for the timely responses to questions put forth here thus far. I don't mean to be a bother, but, I was checking back to see if you had any firmer date as to when the pack builder will be available. We are really anxious to get this. Thanks again.

Hi 80Duece, no bother at all.
I am usually hesitant to give release dates because they have a habit of not being met Tongue
In this case though I will tell you that I am planning on releasing the update by sometime this weekend.  Not 100% sure yet if it will be a full release, or a beta, but at the very least you can expect to see the updated version (along with the Map Pack Creator) by sometime this weekend if not sooner.

I would have released the pack creator sooner, but the packs you create with it will not work with the current version of GTactix, so I have to release the Map Pack Creator and the GTactix update at the same time.

Stay tuned!  Cool
